  • It is an enveloped RNA virus, with a single antigenic type that does not cross-react with other members of the togavirus group
  • Rubella virus is relatively unstable and is inactivated by lipid solvents, trypsin, formalin, μgtraviolet light, low pH, heat, and amantadine.
