Description
- The antibody detects endogenous levels of total MAP4K3 protein
- MAP4K3 (also known as GLK) is a member of the STE20 family of serine/threonine protein kinases and contains N-terminal catalytic domain and C-terminal regulatory domain
- MAP4K3 is upstream of the MEKK1 target and is stimulated by UV radiation and TNF-alpha and can lead to the activation of the JNK signaling pathway
- MAP4K3 can directly activate PKC-T, during TCR signaling and people with systemic lupus erythematosus show considerable enhanced MAP4K3 expression and activation of PKC-T, and the kinase IKK in T cells
- MAP4K3 can act as a pro-apoptotic kinase which orchestrates activation of BAX via the concerted posttranscriptional modulation of PUMA, BAD, and BIM
- The kinase activity of the encoded protein can be stimulated by UV radiation and tumor necrosis factor-alpha
- The protein specifically activates the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway
- Evidence suggests that it functions upstream of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1 (MEKK1)
- MAP4K3 previously was referred to as RAB8-interacting protein-like 1 (RAB8IPL1), but it has been renamed mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 3 (MAP4K3).
