Description

  • This antibody is predicted to react with Monkey, Rabbit and Sheep Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems
  • The expression systems are developed by cloning in the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits
  • Then, individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production
  • The advantages of using recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies include: better specificity and sensitivity, lot-to-lot consistency, animal origin-free formulations, and broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
  • Excitatory amino acid transporter 2 (EAAT2) is a member of a family of solute transporter proteins
  • The membrane-bound protein is the principal transporter that clears the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate from the extracellular space at synapses in the central nervous system
  • Glutamate clearance is necessary for proper synaptic activation and to prevent neuronal damage from excessive activation of glutamate receptors
  • Mutations in and decreased expression of this protein are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS.) Alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been identified.
