Description

  • Neurog 3 protein contains one basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain.It is both necessary and sufficient to induce endocrine islet cell differentiation from embryonic pancreatic progenitors
  • Not only does itinitiates endocrine cell differentiation, italso promotes islet cell maturation and maintains islet function
  • It is reported that Neurogenin 3 can redirect the differentiation of bipotential secretory progenitors to endocrine rather than goblet cell fate.
