- This surface protein is a heterodimer consisting of the specific transmembrane HLA-B chain paired with Beta-2 microglobulin

- The ligands of MHC class I include T cell receptor (TCR) and a costimulatory molecule CD8
- Hundreds of HLA-B alleles have been described
- Typing for these polymorphisms is routinely done for transplantation
- HLA and MHC antibodies play a significant role in Immunopeptidomics, facilitating the identification and characterization of neoantigens through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem Mass Spectrometry.
