  • ∣Binds selectively to a BSA-conjugated alginate, but not to unconjugated BSA
  • Sodium alginate is used in biological experiments for the immobilization of cells and encapsulation due to its biocompatibility and simple gelation with divalent cations such as Ca2+
  • Studies suggest that preparation of alginate microspheres will sustain protein delivery within tissue scaffolds, as well as in many other cell types.
