- Preparation: This antibody was obtained from a rabbit immunized with purified, recombinant Human CD171 (L1CAM) (Met1-Glu1120) and conjugated with PE under optimum conditions, the unreacted PE was removed
- Storage: This antibody can be stored at 2C-8C for twelve months without detectable loss of activity
- Protected from prolonged exposure to light
- Do not freeze! Sodium azide is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly
- Flush with large volumes of water during disposal
- L1CAM/CD171 is an axonal glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin supergene family
- The ectodomain, consisting of several immunoglobulin-like domains and fibronectin-like repeats (type III), is linked via a single transmembrane sequence to a conserved cytoplasmic domain
- This cell adhesion molecule plays an important role in nervous system development, including neuronal migration and differentiation
- Mutations in the gene cause three X-linked neurological syndromes known by the acronym CRASH (corpus callosum hypoplasia, retardation, aphasia, spastic paraplegia and hydrocephalus)
- Alternative splicing of a neuron-specific exon is thought to be functionally relevant.
