- Abnormalities in StAR gene expression are impacted in autosomal Lipoid Congenial Adrenal Hyperplasia (LCAH) resulting in defects in pregnenolone and cortisol synthesis
- The mechanism of cholesterol binding to StAR has yet to be elucidated.
