- It also interacts directly with the DNA binding domain of androgen receptor and enhances androgen-mediated activation of the PSA promoter
- PDEF was shown to have transcript levels 192-fold higher in the peripheral blood of some breast cancer patients in comparison with normal individuals
- PDEF mRNA is also frequently over-expressed in human breast tumors as well as in human ovarian tumors
- In ovarian tumors, PDEF expression seems to down-modulate malignant potential, and thus provides a rationale to screen for drugs that induce PDEF expression in epithelial ovarian tumors.
