- It is a GTPase-activating protein for Gai and Gao
- The protein blocks MAPK activity induced by Gai- or Gaq-coupled receptors
- The protein also attenuates GTPase-deficient Gaq (GaqQL) mediated cAMP response element activation
- The gene encoding for human RGS13 is localized on chromosome 1q31.2.
