  • RBM29 (RNA binding motif protein 29), also known as ELMOD3 (ELMO domain-containing protein 3) or RBED1 (RNA-binding motif and ELMO domain-containing protein 1), is a 381 amino acid protein that contains one ELMO domain and exists as six alternatively spliced isoforms
  • The gene encoding RBM29 maps to human chromosome 2, which consists of 237 million bases, encodes over 1,400 genes and makes up approximately 8% of the human genome
  • A number of genetic diseases are linked to genes on chromosome 2 including Harlequin icthyosis, sitosterolemia and Alstrom syndrome.
