- General description: Phosphatidylcholines (PCs) are phospholipids, that are abundantly present in the tissues of animal. PCs are known to carry saturated and unsaturated fatty acids in the sn-1 and sn-2 position respectively.[1]
- Application: 06:0 PC (1,2-dihexanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine/DHPC) may be used: in the preparation of lipid bicelles for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments[2] to form lipid vesicles/micelles for guanosine triphosphate (GTP) hydrolysis (GTPase) assays[3]in the reconstitution of p7 protein of the hepatitis C virus (p7(5a)) in bicelles[4]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylcholines (PCs) plays a functional role in reducing the level of blood lipid and cholesterol. It may also have the ability to inhibit cardiovascular disease and obesity.[5]
