- Capsule Stain Kit Contents: Crystal Violet, Copper Sulfate Solution I - Aqueous Crystal Violet (1%) 250 mL and Solution II - Aqueous Copper Sulfate (20%) 250 mL For in vitro diagnostic use 1 Kit Solution made from certified dyes (when applicable) Recommended Procedure: Grow organisms in ascitic fluid or serum medium, or mix a drop of serum with specimen and from this mixture, prepare smear
- Air dry
- Cover smear with Sol
- for 2 minutes
- Wash off the stain with Sol

- The amount of washing must be determined empirically
- Results: Capsules appear as faint blue halos around dark blue to purple cells.
