- General description: McCoy′s 5A Medium is recommended to produce viruses in primary cell cultures.
- Application: McCoy′s 5A Medium has been used for culturing:human colon carcinoma cell lines (HCT116, RKO, FET, CBS, HCT116b, and TENN) to study the function of leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor (LGR5) in colon cancer metastasishuman colorectal HCT116 cells to study miR-224 over-expression in cancerosteoblasts to study ion reactivity of calcium-deficient hydroxyapatite in standard cell culture media
- Biochem/physiol Actions: McCoy′s 5A Medium has been originally developed to support liver tumor cells by modification of the amino acids found in BME. This formulation has also been used to support the growth of primary cultures of bone marrow, skin, gingiva, kidney, omentum, adrenals, lung, spleen, rat embryos, and other cell types.
- Quantity: Formulated to contain 11.9 grams of powder per liter of medium.
- Reconstitution: Supplement with 2.2 g/L sodium bicarbonate.
