Description

• General description: Human serum depleted of complement component C5 by affinity chromatography.
• Biochem/physiol Actions: Complement C5-depleted serum from humans produced by affinity chromatography aids the development of the complement cascade up to the desired convertase level. It eliminates the usual time-consuming, expensive, and stepwise formation of enzymatic complexes from purified products. Whole serum usage reduces the risk of protein inactivation during the process. It also promotes better physiological conditions.[1] Complement C5-Depleted Serum is intended for the detection and quantitation of the hemolytically active C5 complement component. Creating complement convertases on erythrocytes enhances a better readout of the assay by spectrophotometric quantification of released hemoglobin.[1]
