Description
- General description: Phosphoethanolamine (PHOS) is a precursor to phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine.[1] 18:1 Dansyl PE is a hygroscopic, light sensitive lipid.
- Application: 18:1 Dansyl PE has been used in unilamellar liposome preparation.[2] It may be used to incorporate into liposomes as the fluorescence energy transfer (FRET) acceptor.[3] It may also be used as a component in Golgi-like acceptor liposomes for lipid transfer assay.[4]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylethanolamine controls membrane fluidity in eukaryotic cells.[5] Phosphoethanolamine (PHOS) has the ability to repress tumour growth both in vitro and in vivo.[1] It possesses anticarcinogenic effects. It can also prevent the mRNA expression of cyclin D1 and VEGFR1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1).[6]
