- General description: 18:0-18:1 PC or 1-stearoyl,2-oleoylphosphatidylcholine (SOPC) belongs to the subclass of naturally occurring phosphatidylcholines (PCs).[1] It is the most abundant phospholipid in the animal membranes. SOPC contains one saturated sn-1 chain and one monounsaturated sn-2 chain.[2]
- Application: 18:0-18:1 PC or 1-stearoyl,2-oleoylphosphatidylcholine has been used in preparation of lipid vesicles by an electro formation procedure.[3][4] It is suitable to study its barotropic phase transitions by high-pressure optical method.[5]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: 18:0-18:1 PC or 1-stearoyl,2-oleoylphosphatidylcholine (SOPC) facilitates the construction of various supported lipid bilayers.[6]
