Description

  • General description: Phosphatidylethanolamine is an aminophospholipid, which is found in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.[1] It is one of the most abundant glycerophospholipids in biological membranes.[2] Phosphatidylethanolamine is found in nervous tissue.[3]
  • Application: 16:1 PE has been used to assess the linearity of response of lipid classes.[4] It has also been used as an internal standard for the determination of plasmenyl-PC and plasmenyl-PE of human heart mitochondria using a Bligh -Dyer extraction method.[5]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylethanolamine forms pure lipid structures.[6] It maintains membrane fluidity in eukaryotic cells.[7] Phosphatidylethanolamine plays a critical role in autophagy, cell division and protein folding. It acts as a precursor for the synthesis of various protein modifications. Phosphatidylethanolamine functions as an intermediate for the synthesis of glycerophospholipid classes.[2]
  • Packaging: 5 mL Clear Glass Sealed Ampule (850706P-200mg)
