Description

General description: Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) is a bioactive proinflammatory lipid secreted on pathological response.[1] It has a choline group at its polar head.[2]
Application: 19:0 Lyso PC has been used for the quantification of lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) in microsomes by mass spectrometry.[3] It has also been used for plasma lipidome analysis of cows.[4]
Biochem/physiol Actions: Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) modifies various biological functions in different cell-types, like endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, monocytes, macrophages and T-cells. It is associated with atherosclerosis and inflammatory diseases. LPC stimulates many second messengers including, protein kinase C, extracellular-signal-regulated kinases and protein tyrosine kinases.[1]
