  • General description: Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control, provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards.Diethylene glycol is a a four carbon dimer of ethylene glycol[1] and finds applications as antifreeze, solvent, humectant, hydraulic fluid and brake fluid. It is a potential neuro- and nephrotoxin for humans. It may also be utilized in moisturizers, lubricants, emulsification agents, additives and solvents.[2]
  • Application: Diethylene glycol may be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). [2]
