• coli serotype H7, and the third with normal rabbit globulin, to serve as the control latex
• When test latex particles are mixed with fresh colonies of O157 and/or H7 strains of E
• coli, an immunochemical reaction occurs resulting in agglutination
• Absence of agglutination indicates the test isolate is not E
