Description

  • General description: Cerium(IV) oxide-samarium doped powder (20% mol samarium doped) (SDC-20) is an electrolytic material with a high oxygen ion conductivity. Samarium ion acts as an aliovalent cation that can be incorporated into the host lattice to increase the oxygen vacancy concentration and improve the oxide ion conduction in cerium oxide. It can be synthesized by reverse strike co-precipitation technique.[1][2]
  • Application: Cerium(IV) oxide-samarium doped can be used in the fabrication of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), which can further be used as environmentally-friendly sources of alternative energy.[5][6]
