Description

  • General description: Maleic anhydride is a dehydration product of maleic acid that is of considerable industrial importance.[1]
  • Application: Maleic anhydride has been used as a reference standard for the determination of the analyte in:Workplace air samples by capillary gas chromatography combined with electron capture detection (GC-ECD).[2]It may be used as a derivatization agent for fatty alcohol ethoxylates in:Industrial mixtures, cleaning products and river and sea waters by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) diode array detection (DAD).[3]
  • Other Notes: For the complete dissociation of enzymes into soluble subunits[4]; For the reversible blocking of amino groups (lysine reagent); P.J.G. Butler, J.I. Harris, B.S. Hartley, R. Lebermann[5]; For the maleylation of proteins[6]
