Thermo Scientific™ Tergitol-7 Agar (Dehydrated)

Description

• Enumerate and differentiate coliforms from water and food samples with selective Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Tergitol-7 Agar (Dehydrated) when used with TTC Solution Supplement (SR0148)
• Tergitol 7 inhibits Gram-positive organisms allowing superior recovery of coliforms
• Fermentation of lactose is seen by a change in color of the pH indicator bromothymol blue
• Tri-phenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) is rapidly reduced to red formazan by most coliform organisms except Escherichia coli and Enterobacter aerogenes allowing easy differentiation
• Tergitol-7 Agar is based on the formulation described by Chapman 1 and is recommended for the selective isolation and differentiation of the coliform group
• Easy-to-read : easily differentiate Escherichia coli (yellow colonies) and Enterobacter species (greenish/yellow colonies) from coliforms (red colonies)
• Selective : Tergitol-7 inhibits Gram positive organisms and minimizes the swarming of Proteus, allowing superior recovery of coliforms
• Recommended : for examination of foodstuffs for fecal contamination 2
