Description

  • Detect coliform organisms in water, waste water and dairy products with selective Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Lauryl Tryptose Broth (Dehydrated), while conforming to the formula detailed by American Public Health Association
  • Lauryl Tryptose Broth is designed to promote a rich growth and copious gas production from small inocula of coliform organisms
  • Use Lauryl Tryptose Broth for detection of coliform organisms in water, wastewater and dairy products for the presence of indicator groups such as coliforms
  • Besides safety, indicator groups provide a measure of food quality and spoilage potential
  • One of the most common groups of bacteria employed as indicator organisms by the food industry are the coliforms, which can be regarded as a subgroup within the Enterobacteriaceae Selective: sodium lauryl sulphate selects for coliform group Recommended by APHA 1 for the Most Portable Number (MPN) presumptive test of coliforms in water, effluent or sewage
  • The advantage of using Lauryl Tryptose Broth is that, in addition to giving the fermentation reaction typical of MacConkey Broth, it can also be tested for the presence of indole
  • The APHA 1 recommend that Lauryl Tryptose Broth should be used for the Most Probable Number (MPN) presumptive test of coliforms in waters, effluent or sewage as a confirmatory test of lactose fermentation with gas production for milk samples (APHA 2 ) and for the detection of coliforms in foods (APHA 3 )
