Description

• Selectively isolate Aeromona s species from clinical specimens with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Blood Agar with Amipicillin
• The addition of 5% sheep blood enriches the medium by providing the essential growth factors and provides for direct detection of hemolysis and oxidase
• Ampicillin is a selective agent inhibitory to normal flora
• The genus Aeromonas contains ferementative, oxidase positive, Gram-negative bacilli  which are common inhabitants of aquatic ecosystem worldwide
• When it is considered an uncommon pathogen, gastroenteritis caused by Aeromonas spp
• is an increasingly recognised clinical entity, reported to occur on a global basis
• Use Blood Agar with Ampicillin (with 5% Sheep Blood) for selective isolation of Aeromonas species from clinical specimens
• Selective: ampicillin is selective for Aeromona s species
