Description

  • General description: Moloney murine leukemia virus (M-MLV ) reverse transcriptase enzyme is isolated from E. coli expressing a portion of the pol gene of M-MLV on a plasmid. MoMLV RT is made up of 671 amino acid residues.[1] It is a DNA polymerase that uses single-stranded RNA, DNA, or an RNA-DNA hybrid (using a primer) to synthesize a complementary DNA strand.
  • Application: M-MLV Reverse Transcriptase has been used:for the preparation of cDNA libraries or for first strand cDNA synthesis[2][3]for use in a 2-step RT-PCR assay[4][5][6] in quantitative realtime-polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR)[5] in reverse transcription[6]
  • Features and Benefits: Thermostable reverse transcriptase active at 37 °C.Can be used to generate first strand cDNA of up to 7 kb.
  • Packaging: Supplied with 10× M-MLV reverse transcriptase buffer containing DTT.
  • Unit Definition: One unit incorporates 1 nmol of TTP into acid precipitable material in 10 min. at 37 °C using poly(A):oligo dT as a template:primer.
  • Preparation Note: The enzyme is purified from Escherichia coli expressing the pol gene of M-MLV on a plasmid.
