  • Thermo Scientific Pierce D-Luciferin is formulated at greater than 99% purity as both monosodium and monopotassium salts to provide convenience and high performance at a low cost in reporter assays involving firefly luciferase
  • Luciferin is the substrate for bioluminescence reactions with firefly luciferase enzyme
  • Lyophilized potassium and sodium salts of firefly luciferin are stable and easily soluble, and both formulations are compatible with a wide variety of luciferase-based in vivo imaging and in vitro bioluminescent assays
  • (The decision to use one or the other form is a matter of researcher preference.) Applications include ATP assays, gene reporter assays, high-throughput sequencing and various contamination assays throughout the biotechnology field
