• General description: γ-Actin is mainly present in sarcolemma and to a lesser extent in reticular lattice of normal muscles. Increased levels of γ-actin have been linked to dystrophin loss and subsequent cell signaling and gene expression defects.
• Specificity: Monoclonal Anti-γ-Actin recognizes human, bovine, canine, mouse, hamster and chicken γ-actin.
• Application: Anti-γ-Actin antibody, Mouse monoclonal has been used in : immunofluorescence enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)western blotting[1] immunohistochemistry
• Biochem/physiol Actions: The two major cytoskeletal proteins implicated in cell motility are actin and myosin. Actin is significantly involved in the microfilament system. It participates in muscle contraction and gene regulation. Actin and myosin are constituents of many cell types and are involved in a myriad of cellular process including locomotion, secretion, cytoplasmic streaming, phagocytosis and cytokinesis. Increased levels of γ-actin have been linked to dystrophin loss and subsequent cell signaling and gene expression defects.
• Physical form: Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
