• General description: IgG antibodies regulate several functions such as phagocytosis and complement activation. Thus they play a crucial role in facilitating cytological immune responses. Anti-rabbit IgG (whole molecule)–biotin antibody can be used in immunohistochemistry. The product shows minimal interspecies cross reactivity to human IgG hence can be used in enzyme immunoassays or dot blot in presence of human IgG. Anti-rabbit IgG (whole molecule)–biotin antibody reacts specifically to all rabbit immunoglobulin but has no reactivity with human IgG.

• Biochem/physiol Actions: Avidin, Streptavidin or ExtrAvidine show strong affinity interaction with biotin rendering the biotin-avidin system an extremely effective tool in molecular biology, protein chemistry and immunology. The high specificity of the biotinylated antibody to rabbit IgG and the stability of the biotin-avidin complex has been exploited in variety of reagents (Avidin, Streptavidin or ExtrAvidin conjugated to FITC, TRITC, Peroxidase or Alkaline Phosphatase), for the detection and quantitation of rabbit IgG.
