• Biochem/physiol Actions: Serglycin is a protein encoded by the SRGN gene in humans. It is a major hematopoietic cell proteoglycan. It is secreted by multiple myeloma (MM) cells. Serglycin is highly expressed by endothelial cells and may have a role in immune reactions. It may have a crucial role in tumor metastasis. Serglycin is also secreted from adipocytes and tumor necrosis factor-α stimulates its expression. It is found in human serum. Serglycin is involved in various pathological conditions including cancer, inflammatory diseases and platelet disorders.
