• Biochem/physiol Actions: DNAJA1 (DnaJ (Hsp40) homolog, subfamily A, member 1) gene encodes a protein that functions as a cochaperone of mammalian heat shock cognate 70 (hsc70) protein. It forms a chaparone pair with heat shock protein (hsp)70 and prevents translocation of Bax, a proapoptotic Bcl-2 family protein, to mitochondria. This protects cells against nitric oxide- and CHOP-induced apoptosis.
