• General description: PPFIBP1 (PPFIA binding protein 1, also referred as liprin-β1) encodes the protein that belongs to the LAR (leukocyte common antigen-related) family of transmembrane protein-tyrosine phosphatases. It is a 105kDa cytosolic protein involved with the axon guidance and mammary gland development. It is composed of a extracellular region with three N-terminal Ig (immunoglobulin)-like domains and fibronectin type III-like domains. It has been reported that metastasis-associated protein S100A4 (S100 calcium binding protein A4) interacts with PPFIBP1 in vivo to induce invasiveness of primary tumors and metastasis.
