• General description: LCN2 (lipocalin 2) is a 25kDa lipocalin glycoprotein expressed in tissues which are more exposed to microorganisms, such as bone marrow. Its expression is regulated by wide range of molecules such as pro-inflammatory cytokines (Interleukins, tumor necrosis factor-α, interferons) and vitamins (retinoic acid). It belongs to the large lipoprotein superfamily. It was first identified in specific granules of the human neutrophil.

• Application: Anti-LCN2 antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . • Biochem/physiol Actions: LCN2 (lipocalin 2) is mainly involved in the cell growth and differentiation along with innate immune response. It is mainly involved in the transmembrane transportation of small lipophilic substances, such as bacterial derived formylpeptides and lipopolysaccharides (LPS) during inflammation. In innate immune response, it destroys microbial growth factor to mediate anti-bacterial action. It has clinical relevance in different malignant diseases such as breast, urinary tract, gynaecological, thyroid and gastric malignancies.
