• Biochem/physiol Actions: ONECUT1 (one cut homeobox 1) is also known as HNF6, HNF-6 and HNF6A. It is a liver-enriched transcription factor and is localized to the nuclear compartment. It binds to specific DNA sequences of numerous target gene promoters. The gene regulates complex biological processes that occur in the liver and pancreas. It functions in cell proliferation, cell cycle regulation, cell differentiation and organogenesis, cell migration and cell-matrix adhesion, glucose metabolism, bile homeostasis, inflammation etc. It also regulates the transcription of its target genes. It plays a role in apoptosis, oncogenesis and modulation of the inflammatory response. It also plays an important role in the gene regulation of CYP3A4 during development from the fetal period to the postnatal period.
