• Biochem/physiol Actions: Zinc finger protein 18 (ZNF18) is referred to as HDSG1 (Heart Development-specific Gene 1), KOX11, ZNF535, Zfp535, ZKSCAN6 (zinc finger with KRAB and SCAN domains) and ZSCAN38. It is mapped to human chromosome 17p12-p13 with 9 exons and 8 introns. This protein may have an essential role in the development of embryo heart. This gene consists of N-terminal leucine rich region, krueppel-associated box, and C-terminal three C2H2 type zinc finger motifs. Zinc finger protein genes are regulatory transcription factors and they interact directly with DNA and/or RNA.
