• Biochem/physiol Actions: SULT1C2 (sulfotransferase family, cytosolic, 1C, member 2) is a member of Cytosolic sulfotransferase (SULTs) family. SULT is subdivided into three families, SULT1, SULT2, and SULT4. Further, SULT1 is divided in four subfamilies, A, B, C, and E that comprises eight members (1A1, 1A2, 1A3, 1B1, 1C1, 1C2, 1C3, and 1E1). It possesses substrate specific binding capacity towards phenols, estradiol, thyroid hormones, drugs, and other xenobiotics. It has close similarity with SULT1C1 gene. It facilitates the phase II sulfonation reaction of p-nitrophenol and N-hydroxy-2-acetylaminofluorene in vitro of many drugs, neurotransmitters, hormones and other xenobiotics.
