• Biochem/physiol Actions: CPA3 (carboxypeptidase A3) is responsible for the detoxification of snake and bee venoms. In septic peritonitis, this enzyme reduces the systemic toxicity of endothelin and neurotensin, which are endogenous peptides. It acts as a marker of mast cells and their activity, and its levels are increased in patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS).
