• General description: PCNT (pericentrin) is a centrosomal protein mapped on chromosome 21q22.3. It is localized in the centrosome as an integral component of the pericentriolar material.
• Immunogen: Pericentrin recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)
• Application: Anti-PCNT antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . • Biochem/physiol Actions: PCNT (pericentrin) is associated with various centrosomal activities. It forms a functional complex with pericentriolar material 1 (PCM1) in cells, which is responsible for centrosome function. In association with DISC1 (Disrupted-In-Schizophrenia 1), PCNT performs a vital role in the microtubule network assembly. During cytoskeleton assembly, it binds to the microtubule nucleation component, γ-tubulin, and plays a crucial role in the cell-cycle progression by directing a proper spindle organization. It has been observed that low level of PCNT alters the arrangement of mitotic spindles and leads missegregation of chromosomes. Mutation in PCNt gene causes two autosomal recessive disorders named Seckel syndrome and Majewski osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type II (MOPD II).
