• General description: SST (somatostatin) is present in two active forms SST-14 (14 amino acids length) and SST-28.
• Immunogen: Somatostatin Precursor recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)
• Application: Anti-SST antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . • Biochem/physiol Actions: SST (somatostatin) functions by binding to the G protein-coupled receptor (somatostatin receptors). It is a peptide hormone which is produced in the hypothalamus, the gastrointestinal tract and the endocrine pancreas. SST inhibits hormone secretion and gastrointestinal function. In presence of glucose and amino acids, SST-14 is released from δ-cells in pancreatic islets of Langerhans. It suppresses the secretion of insulin and glucagon. In the gastrointestinal tract, SST suppresses gallbladder contraction and reduces secretion.
