• General description: ACCS (1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase-like protein 1) is a member of a-family of PLP (pyridoxal-5′-phosphate)-dependent enzyme family. It is mapped to human chromosome 11p11.2. Its expression has been found in peripheral blood cells.

• Biochem/physiol Actions: ACCS (1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase-like protein 1) is majorly involved in the biosynthesis of plant hormone ethylene. It facilitates the conversion of S-adenosyl-L-methionine to 5′methylthioadenosine (MTA) and ACC, which is a vital rate-determining intermediate step of ethylene biosynthesis. It has been shown experimentally that ACCS is associated with IgA nephropathy (IgAN) risk as a regulatory variant based on its presence in peripheral blood cells.
