• General description: AFMID, kynurenine formamidase also called arylformamidase, is located on human chromosome 17q25.3. AFMID catalyses the hydrolysis of NFK (N-formyl-L-kynurenine) to kynurenine.
• Immunogen: Probable arylformamidase recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)
• Application: Anti-AFMID antibody produced in rabbit may be used for the detection of AFMID protein in western blotting.
• Biochem/physiol Actions: The conversion of tryptophan to nicotinic acid is catalysed by kynurenine formamidase. Alternative splicing in kynurenine formamidase gene modulates tumor suppressor p53 role in hepatocellular carcinoma development and progression. Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase-mediated kynurenine formation could play a role in cataract formation related to chronic inflammation.
