• General description: WIPF2 (WAS/WASL interacting protein family, member 2)/WICH (WIP- and CR16-homologous protein)/ WIRE (another N-WASP-binding member of the family) is a member of the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome proteins (WASP) family. It has a verprolin homology domain. This gene located on human chromosome 17q21.

• Biochem/physiol Actions: WIPF2 (WAS/WASL interacting protein family, member 2)/WICH (WIP- and CR16-homologous protein)/ WIRE (another N-WASP-binding member of the family) participates in actin-microspike formation. It modulates the generation of invadopodium and maturation in human breast cancer cell invasion. This protein plays an important role in matrix degradation and cell migration in diverse matrices.[1] WIPF2 is also involved in the assembly of the actin cytoskeleton, mediated by WASP.
