• General description: The gene PADI3 (peptidyl arginine deiminase 3) is mapped to human chromosome 1p36.13. It is mainly expressed in the epidermis and hair follicles.
• Immunogen: peptidyl arginine deiminase, type III recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

• Biochem/physiol Actions: PADI3 (peptidyl arginine deiminase 3) is responsible for the deimination (or citrullination) of proteins in a calcium dependent manner. It converts arginine residues in a protein into citrulline. PADI3 is responsible for the deimination of filaggrin (FLG), thereby resulting in the degradation of FLG. FLG degradation is required for the epidermal activity and homeostasis.
