• General description: The CD40 ligand (CD40L/CD40LG), a type II membrane protein, belongs to the tumor-necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. It has a sandwich extracellular structure that consists of a β-sheet, α-helix loop, and a β-sheet. The CD40LG gene is located on human chromosome Xq26.3.
