Description

  • General description: We are committed to bringing you greener alternative products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Green Chemistry. This antibody is Preservative-free, produced without the harm or sacrifice of animals and exceptionally stable to allow for ambient shipping and storage if needed and thus aligns with "Waste Prevention", "Designing Safer Chemicals" and "Design for Energy Efficiency". Click here for more information.
  • Specificity: Clone BD17 is a ZooMAb® Mouse recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects GABA A receptor β2.
  • Immunogen: Purified GABA A receptor from bovine cerebral cortex.
  • Application: Quality Control TestingEvaluated by Western Blotting in Mouse liver membrane preparation.Western Blotting Analysis (WB): A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected GABRB2 in Mouse liver membrane preparation.Tested ApplicationsImmunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected GABRB2 in Human brain and Mouse brain tissue sections.Immunofluorescence Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected GABRB2 in Human cerebellum tissue sections.Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user.
  • Target description: Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit beta-2 (UniProt: P0C2W5; also known as GABA(A) receptor subunit beta-2) is encoded by the GABRB2 gene (Gene ID: 540657) in Bovine. GABA is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system that inhibits the generation of the action potential of the neuron. It plays an important role in the formation of functional inhibitory GABAergic synapses in addition to mediating synaptic inhibition as a GABA-gated ion channel. It is involved in the pathogenesis of certain neurological and psychiatric disorders. GABA interacts with the GABAA and GABAB receptors, which are widely distributed throughout the nervous system and are involved in synaptogenesis, neurogenesis, and the regulation of neuronal plasticity and learning. These receptors differ in their pharmacological, electrophysiological, and biochemical properties. GABRB2 is a multi-pass membrane protein that plays an important role in the formation of the pentameric structure of the GABA A receptor. It is synthesized with a signal peptide (aa 1-23), which is subsequently cleaved off to produce the mature protein that contains an extracellular domain (aa 24-239), three transmembrane domains, and a cytoplasmic domain (aa 330-450). The extracellular domains contribute to synaptic contact formation. GABRB2 is highly expressed in the brain with abundance in the gray matter of neurons and glial cells. It is associated with cognitive function related to time perception. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals. • Physical form: Purified recombinant mouse monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.
  • Reconstitution: 0.3 mg/mL after reconstitution at 25 µL per vial. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.
  • Storage and Stability: Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
