Description
- General description: BMP2 (bone morphogenetic protein 2) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 20p12.3.[1] The encoded protein belongs to transforming growth factor-β (TGFβ) superfamily. BMP-2 is expressed in heart, lung, and dorsal aorta.[2]
- Immunogen: Recombinant Human BMP2
- Application: For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.Human BMP2 (bone morphogenetic protein 2) ELISA kit has been used for measuring concentrations of BMP in conditioned mouse organoid media.[3]Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)
- Biochem/physiol Actions: BMP2 (bone morphogenetic protein 2) plays a vital role in the activation of the autonomic lineage-specific basic–helix-loop-helix protein MASH1 (mammalian achaete scute homolog-1) and in the autonomic neurogenesis in neural crest stem cells in vitro.[2] During bone repair, BMP-2 controls the expression of Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) and Osterix (Osx), thereby enhancing migration, proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.[4] In addition to its osteogenic activity, BMP-2 also plays an important role in cardiac morphogenesis.[5] Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) plays an essential role in pathogenesis of oral squamous cell carcinomas.[6] Mutation in BMP-2 gene is associated with osteoporosis.[1]
