- General description: The Human Thyroglobulin ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human Thyroglobulin in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine.
- Immunogen: Recombinant Human Thyroglobulin

- Biochem/physiol Actions: Thyroglobulin (TG) is a prothyroid hormone. It plays a vital role in production of L-thyroxine (tetraiodothyronine, T4) and L-triiodothyronine (T3) hormones in thyroid gland.[2] Tyrosyls of TG acts as substrate for iodination and hormone formation.[2][3] Serum thyroglobulin level is used as marker of metastases in differentiated thyroid carcinomas.[4] Mutation in the gene is associated with the development of congenital goitrous hypothyroidism and non-endemic simple goitre.[5][6]
