- Biochem/physiol Actions: Tumour necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily member 1A is a type I single transmembrane glycoprotein. Signal transduction mediated by binding of TNFα regulates inflammatory, immune responses and apoptotic pathway. TNF receptor 1 is implicated in the end-stage renal disease and associated mortality.[1] Mutations in TNF receptor 1 causes autosomal dominant tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated periodic syndrome (TRAPS).[2] Polymorphism in TNF receptor 1 causes multiple sclerosis.[3]
