- General description: Protein A is a 42-kDa protein from Staphylococcus aureus and has five immunoglobulin binding domains.[1]
- Application: Protein A−Agarose has been used in the immunoprecipitationof protein phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) protein from S63 and NIH3T3 fibroblast cells[2]of prolyl hydroxylase domain 2 N27 cells[3]of Wnt3a and sonic hedgehog (Shh) in mouse fibroblast L-cells and human embryonic kidney (HEK) 293 cells[4]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Protein A binds to Fcγ (the constant region) and Fab (antigen binding fragment) of IgG.[1] Protein A agarose resin is commercially used for affinity based purifications.[5]
- Physical form: Suspension in 0.5 M NaCl containing preservative
